Zakat Payment Requirement
Tabung Amanah Saham Kedah (ASK) was launched on 27 February 1995 by YAB Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
ASK is a Shariah-based unit trust fund. Its objective is to provide an effective Shariah-compliant investment mechanism to enhance and mobilise savings from a broad segment of the Bumiputera community, enabling them to participate in the capital market and to share more fairly and equitably in the wealth distribution of the state and the nation.
ASK is managed by Kedah Islamic Asset Management Berhad (KIAM), formerly known as Amanah Saham Kedah Berhad.
For your information, KIAM as the Manager of ASK does not make zakat payments on investments for ASK investors. The obligation to pay zakat lies with the investors themselves. However, investors may contact KIAM to obtain their respective investment information for zakat calculation purposes. Investors are also advised to refer directly to the Zakat Board in their respective states for guidance on the proper method of calculating and paying investment zakat.
